The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a Mini Cooper Hatchback DNA. It is a unique combination of 17 letters and numbers that is given to the Mini Cooper Hatchback when it is produced and remains with that vehicle for life. The VIN is stamped in multiple places on the vehicle such as the frame, door, and dashboard. To lookup and decode the VIN you need to understand the vital information it contains, such as the manufacturer identifier, restraint type, year of production, the factory ID, engine type, model year, etc. The VIN is used to track the vehicle as it changes hands and as it is repaired and serviced. If the vehicle is severely damaged it is assigned a “salvage title” by your state’s registry of motor vehicles. This information will appear when the VIN is used to purchase a vehicle history report and VIN search.
